Friday 16/6/2006 marks the end of my 22wks IA with Hyflux (Consumer Products - level 7)
Felt like Santa Claus on this day of farewell bcos was roaming around my com, giving away candies, chocs, biscuits and fresh warm waffles, tog wif 2 intern frens (KaiXiang & JiaYin) also leaving.
Since i did both Engineerin n Sales tasks, everyone in the office gets his/her share of the goodies.
Not forgettin the cleanin auntie, Bangladesh toilet cleaner (last day thn i know his name is Robert), n those frm other depts n levels who crossed paths with me. These are all nice folks which i will bump into now n then, n tok kok a bit:
YW: "Hey, later today got free company lunch?"
Robert: "Ya, bcos got someone come to setup."
YW: "Wah good, i go alert my colleagues… standby executive-canteen 12pm sharp!!"
Robert (scratchin his arm): "Got mosquitoes in toilet…"
YW: "Oh is it… nxt time u dance as u clean, thn they cant bite u."
A million thanx to…
My Engineerin n Sales supervisors for their treat of Fish&Co and Han’s.
Hyflux employees for their treat of pizza, white/red wine at Hyflux lounge (pool + kara-ok)
Hyflux employees who bought me the Kutsuwa multi-purpose pouch.
NTU intern KaiXiang for all ur help (though u nv give present…err…)
NUS intern JiaYin for ur letter (rather long-winded leh) n drawing pencil+memo pad.
NBS intern girls (Joanne, Fiona, WenYa) for the nice card, Ripples slippers, Benko soft-toy (hey really look like me meh…?)
可是生命好象就是这样,
离别就是为了能够再相见.
再见以前先说 "再见!!"
The last time i bought shoes was like 2yrs ago, quite long time liao. Still rembr i bought it with my salary frm Megumi. It was during Great Sg Sale, a pair of Converse black low sneakers.
This is my new pair: Nike Dunk Low (Euro)
Juz released into the market on 16-Feb-2006.
Special thanx to Mr Eldwin Ng Zong Lam, who accompanied me after work to Queensway to buy, mins before the shop closes.
Nike Dunk goes all the way back to 1985, under Nike’s <College Colors> program. Nike sponsored the top college basketball teams in USA, with coloured shoes that matched their jerseys. Michael Jordan wore Dunks before he created his own dynasty of Air Jordans.
In 1998, Dunks were re-launched due to popular demand frm Japan, and for the skateboard industry. Its flat sole grips well to the skateboard. Nike SB Dunks are limited-edition-rare and have a Zoom Air insole unlike the usual Dunks.
Today, Dunks collaborate with graffiti artists and fashion brands. For eg, Dunks bearing the luxurious Louis Vuitton and Gucci logo swooshes (the "Swoosh" is the Nike trademark-registered tick).
"Ladies n gentlemen, our alphabet for the day is the letter S. Can anyone pls tell me wat it stands for?"
S is for Salesman
A job which i’m tasked during Saturdays at Parkway Parade, by my wonderful IA com. This is my 1st experience in being a salesman, basically standing in front of a store n promoting a tap-water-filter (tat costs $128…) to passer-bys. Similar to my prev job of a waiter—stand long hrs, then tok to strangers to pyscho them to spend $. Although i’m the top seller for 2wks (thus the unwilling spotlight during sales meeting with dept VP n managers), i feel awfully exploited. I also dunno whether to thank those customers tat bought the filter frm me, or should i pity them for wasting $.
S is for Sleep
Also known as zzz, something which i’m rather devoid of. As a result, i try to regain my usual noon nap in my IA com. For around 15-30 mins, i would doze off in my office. Preparation involves sitting in a position such tat i will be facing the wall, while my back faces office door. A stack of papers or a file will be opened on my desk to create a facade tat i’m deep in reading. Of cos, my computer monitor must be showing an excel spreadsheet, filled with numbers n words.
S is for Sorry
An emotion i’m feeling right now. Sorry to the unhappiness i caused to a fren.
Maybe u will nv believe tat i dun mean to upset u.
Maybe u are still angry with me.
Maybe i will nv get to see ur smile again.
Maybe u will nv get to read all this…
But i’m really very sorry.
对不起.
It’s been rainin continually for more than a wk, today’s temp range is only 23-26 degC!! (normal aircon is 25…) I’m trapped at home, can’t go out, can’t even play basketball or go for run.
All i can do is work on my URECA proj, tats y online most of the time. And also read my piano bk to prepare for nxt lesson. I’m going to get a Suzuki electric keyboard to practise at home, since i can’t afford a real piano. But my keyboard will still cost me $280 (-_-;)
While spring-cleaning my rm, i stumbled upon some movies which i’ve dloaded n burnt into cdr a few yrs back. One of them is Battle Royale. Since home-bound, might as well watch it again.
The plot is bizarre, but i find it uniquely creative. A class of students is kidnapped by govt (?!) to an island, where they must kill off one another till only one survivor remains. He/she will then get to leave the island. Every student is given a bagpack with food, water, map n a random weapon—firearms, knives n even silly stuff like a paper fan, pot lid (suay…)
Suspicion btw frens, rivarly among classmates, jealousy of boy-girl relationships step in under such extreme circumstances. Kind of creepy when u imagine if tat will happen, if its ur own JC class. Juz go n watch it n you will know wat i mean. Not really abt its violence, but more abt the film’s implications by renowed director Kinji Fukasaku (passed away in 2003 while filming BR2)
"At the dawn of the Millenium, the nation collapsed.
At 15% unemployment, 10 million were out of work, 800,000 students boycotted school.
The adults lost confidence, and fearing the youth, eventually passed the ‘Millenium Educational Reform Act’
…AKA: The BR Act."
This is the final strip of <Calvin & Hobbes> by Bill
Watterson.
Originally published on 31st Dec 1995, a Sunday, thus the
big coloured Sunday-page.
I like this final strip a lot.
It’s simple, plain and yet deep in meaning, with Calvin’s playful dose of hope for the unknown future ahead.
2006 — a new year.
A new year to forget the bitterness of yesterday.
A new year to cherish every minute of today.
A new year to create a better tomorrow.
Dear fren, i demand u to be HAPPY

This is my final drawing for yr 2005, a pencil sketch. My 1st attempt in drawin a portrait from photo of an actual person. In case u are a mountain turtle (山龟 sua-gu), he is Takeshi Kaneshiro 金城武. Pls clik on thumbnail to get better view.
"U drew a man… are u gay or wat?"
Haha, dun worry i’m definitely nt gay (bcos i’m hopelessly attracted to girls :p). I’ve drawn mostly girls in the past, so now is time for a change. Of cos, i hav to choose the most gd-looking man—金城武.
"Wat inspired u to draw this?"
After viewing his recent movie <Perhaps Love 如果.爱>, i had the
urge to draw a man, to be more precise a gentle man who dares to shed tears.
The scene, which a teardrop sipped out from his eye when he is
underwater in the pool, is really my inspiration source.
"A sorrowful guy… hmm… anythin to do with ur current mood?"
Think so. 我想我是受了什么打击… (T_T)
Quote from movie <
To be a better man.
当喜欢一个人,会真的非常非常非常地喜欢,但她通常都对你没意思…
你是不是也正在喜欢一个人呢?
Quoted from the Korean film <Ditto>:
Ji-in:
"How is your boyfriend?"
So-Eun:
"I was thinking maybe… we’re not destined to be with each other."
Ji-in:
"Not everything’s destined to each other. You say a destination before you leave, not when you get there."
